Grounded is the word.

Sam didn't really hear the lecture from his teacher,
he was already worried about being GROUNDED.
From what we can see, Sam's school paper says:
My pet porcupine likes to eat apples and boogers.
He protecks me from scary aliens by telling them
he will poke their eyes out with his kwills.
This one changed a bit after I scanned in my sketch.
At first, I thought I was going to show his mom with word bubbles.
The Ipod/etc in them would have circle slashes over each picture.
I didn't like it much as I was redrawing in Illustrator.

It's still taking me a long time to figure things out
but I think I'm getting a teeny bit faster.
The pen tool and I aren't friends yet.
I will continue to use online Illustrator tutorials as I work and wow,
I am soooo grateful they exist.
This is Week 2 of working on our GOALS.
Wowza, it feels wonderful to be drawing and learning again.
9 Sweet Comments:
I love the perspective. The big teacher and poor little Sam. I find the colors very nice and balanced.
Looks like the kind of story my middle child would write. I really like your boy character illustration, great expression.
Really like your style - keep ploughing on with illustrator! Also love your blog and your first illo created using illustrator (with zebra). I really should get back into using it myself - have been focusing on Photoshop lately - practise, practise, practise... :)
Who knew that writing about porcupines & boogers could earn you a D+? Nice job!
Thank you hedwig, Amalou, Karen and Chavah for stopping by and leaving such lovely comments. I really enjoy "meeting" you.
HAHAHAHA! Oh, I don't think that essay deserved a D+. It's chock full of creativity and humor. A, I tell ya. A! Great perspective, and oooh, I love how you did her bun. Fun illustration!
