Goal Progress- January Results, February Goals

What did I learn in January?
-Some projects take more/less time than I expect.
-Changing plans while shopping for paint probably isn't a good idea.
-Maybe I should use a pattern when sewing something I've never made before.
-My scheduled walking time doesn't work with the rest of my schedule.
-I LOVE drawing and sketching
and using my Wacom and Illustrator A LOT more than I remembered.
And I remembered loving it tremendously.

That said,
WOOHOO, I'm so excited to show you my January goal results!
Sidenote, in no way are these my life goals, just small bits of my big picture.
I do have much bigger goals I'm working on, I choose to blog about these.

Thrift/Refurbishing:
Before:

Armoire Before Open

The Plan:

Armoire to Sewing Cabinet...to be Plans

After:

Sewing Cabinet After

Let's move in a little closer, shall we?

Sewing Cabinet After

Organized bins, drawers and containers...

Sewing Cabinet After

hooks, folded fabric and shelves...

Sewing Cabinet After

all make me sew so happy!

Sewing Cabinet After

As you can see, plans changed a bit.
That's how life goes, right?
I reused/repurposed many of the items I already had.
Working with a budget,
I didn't do everything I imagined but I'm satisfied with the results.
I decided not to paint the exterior (although a creamy white would be beautiful)
because the exterior goes well with a large Ikea shelving unit we own.
Someday they'll both live in a studio Tyler and I have planned for the future.
If I could do it all over again I'd leave the shelves green and paint the interior wall light blue.
Who knows, maybe I'll still do that.

February Goal:
Headboard, dog food storage container or toybox for Sam.
I was really sick when I was supposed to be out scouring thrift stores.
Next week I'll have this narrowed down to one.

Sewing:
Before:

Postage Stamp Quilt Strips

The Plan:
A postage stamp quilt.

After:

Sewing Machine Cover

You may have noticed this in my sewing cabinet,
my quilt became a sewing machine cover.

Maybe I can find a little mouse friend,
make him a bed out of cotton balls and cover him with this.
Then we can say it's a quilt.
Or a mouse cozy.

Sewing machine cover and Moosh
He wants to know what's up with all these weird seams.
It's cool Moosh, I'm alright with imperfection.

February Goal:
Dog bed using THIS tutorial and possibly an ironing board cover if the dog bed is quick.

Walking/Jogging/Running:
I'm still working this out.
I'm outside everyday with the puppy making sure he gets exercise.
Plus, were still teaching him how to use a leash.
I'm getting exercise but I need to refigure my schedule for February
to make long mentally refreshing walks/jogs/runs fit in better with my routine.

Drawing:

Yes! I managed to complete each week for Illustration Friday.
I'm slowly getting better with Illustrator and loving every minute of it.
Soon I hope to be drawing just from my heart
and not thinking about how to use specific tools.
I also managed to work on some patterns I've had on hold for awhile
AND work on illustrations for a big project Tyler and I are doing together.
My February Goals remain the same.

Because the patterns and project are something I can't show just yet, I give you this:

Moosh Big Bone

January, wrapped up, over and out, end scene, from start to finish:
Original Goals
Week 1, January
Week 2, January
Week 3, January
Week 4, January

Thank you! I'm really happy with the organization, especially now that I have a dedicated "sewing time".

SketchbookJack- Awesome! I always loved the outside and when we got a flat screen I still couldn't get rid of the cabinet. Glad I kept it now. Good luck to you. If you do repurpose yours I'd love to see the results!

Angel- You are so wonderfully creative. I wish you lived closer because I would drag you over here to help me with my hopeless lack of actual crafty-ness. Keep making beautiful things.
