Goal Progress - March Results, April Goals

Hey, hey, hey.
March is done... wow, wasn't it just New Years Day?

So here we go - March results!

Thrift/Refurbishing:
Before:

Refinishing my kitchen table.

table2
Yeah, in definite need of help.

After:

table refinished

Oooooh, shiny.

Hello sexy, nice legs!

My noisy chairs are now stomping around, asking for some love too.

table done (bad light) need to do chairs

Inspired by Defining Design's table redo,
I stained the top and painted the frame and legs.
I was super over-excited.
I could barely stand waiting the 8-24 hours between the coats of stain and the coats of poly.
There are 3 coats of poly on this bad boy,
which make me feel much safer about letting my 4 year old near it!
April goal? You guessed it, helping the chairs fit in.
They're feeling so neglected. Any suggestions on color?
Stained, painted, what do you think?

Sewing:
Before:

Ironing board cover.

After:

Woohoo, confetti and fireworks!!!
Just kidding, I know, not a big deal.
I had to choose something easy because I knew the table would take up much of my time.
My April goal is possibly making a memory blanket for some of my dearest friends
using their first born son's baby clothes.
If that doesn't pan out for April, I plan to make door stoppers.
Again, my sewing needs to be easy, the chairs will be time eaters.

Running/Jogging/Walking:
Yes! I've been out so much lately!
Really, it's a whole new world having a dog in our family.
Moosh and I hit the pavement as often as possible, even when it's dark.

rice

I helped a friend move a few months back. He wanted to get rid of this huge bag of rice.
I swear, it's probably 5 years old. This is what I plan on using for the door stoppers.

Drawing:
Okay, now I'm doing the booty dance.
Put your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care....
(yes, I'm in my 30's)
I'm still on track! Still drawing every week, whether I like the results or not.
When Mama ain't happy - nobody is happy, I'm sure you've heard that, yes?
Well, drawing makes this Mama happy!

Okay March, high-five, see ya later....ummmm, next year.
It's time to meet April.

The table looks awesome. And, yes, I think those chairs are calling out for some love too ...

And you have the most stylish ironing board cover ever!

The table looks amazing! Thats a lot of hard work.
I like the white chairs in your inspiration picture. With the other heavy-darker pieces in the room i think white chairs will lighten the space.

I love your table!

Thank you Linda, Jaime and Kelli!
I also want the chairs to be light but I have to consider who will be using them. I'll probably go light and then make some chair pillows or something...

The table is beautiful and yes I think of the inspiration pic with the light colored chairs.

Have you thought of something to do with the "cranes"?

Angel said...

Thanks Mom :)

I think the cranes are going to end up on a bench in Ella's room.

A much classier ironing board now. But WHOA! I was totally blown over by your table. What a transformations! WOWEE, it's gorgeous and elegant and sooooooooo beautiful with all the carvings. Holy moly!

Bella- Thank you! I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I bought it many years ago from a friend who owns an import store. Supposedly, it was hand-carved. ??? Who really knows? Now to get the chairs done...
