IF: Intention

Illustration Friday
Intention is the word.

IF: Intention

The Best Intention.
Anxiously waiting for her Honey to come home.
In need of a hug.
Angry, embarrassed and so sad.
He's going to be furious with those strangers.
It's hard to believe that in 2012,
a woman still gets leers and jeers for
discreetly breastfeeding her child in public.

I started this out as a "bad intention" sketch and it morphed into this.
Originally it was a dude pretending to be her friend,
her shoulder to cry on because he's more than interested in her.
Yeah, I like the good intention better.

Go for it Mama, don't let them stop you!
After all, boobies weren't made just to sell beer and movies.

I feel for her having a baby isn't easy!but very rewarding, reminds me of my post for IF capable : http://diarysketches.blogspot.com/2012/02/capable.html

My babies tower over me now but this pic brought me right back to the joy and frustration with breast feeding. Oh and not to mention the hormones! It amazing to me too the narrow mindedness that some still have about breastfeeding.

Oh, I'm crying along with her. How dare anyone have a problem with a woman breastfeeding discreetly. I like the texture of the sofa cover and her tears.

Thanks everybody :)

laura kay- nope, not easy but totally worth it! So funny how similar our posts for different weeks are!

The Metaphysical Moose- love your name! I'll never forget either, breastfeeding my babies was an honor, a joy and yes, occasionally a frustration.

Jackie- it's all over the news again, did you read about that poor woman who had to pump in an airport bathroom who had originally planned on pumping on the plane? Ugh. Yup, mascara tears!

No babies for me, but I don't mind. I'd guess most people don't mind, but of course you only hear from the vocal minority (and they are probably sad and lonely or bitter people).

She is quite stylish for a mom on the go! I do love the couch and the delicate knit thrown over it.

Nice one, the illo and the script to go along with it. Did you do this in Illustrator, then? AWESOME.

Thanks Cindy D. and Victoria :)

The original had a fluffy rug too but it just became to busy.

All in Illustrator, it's hard to stop adding details when I have limited time to work/learn.

OH this is so great. Brings back many memories - of the tears in the bewitched hours between 5-7pm (and actually, those have not stopped in my house) and staring right back at the lifted eyebrows when they realized that under that blanket was a (GASP!!!!!) live, hungry, nursing baby! Thanks for stopping my my blog last week - I appreciate your kind feedback.
