Valentine's Day in the Mountains

Tyler surprised me.
He asked if I wanted to hike with him on Valentine's Day while the kids were in school.
Uhhh, YEAH!
I was a bit cranky pants missing the last two hikes.

hike Phoenix us

Mu liked the beep-beep-beep of the self timer.
Can you guess which one of us got a sunburn?

We spent two and half hours in gorgeous Phoenix weather.
Tyler was avoiding sprained ankles.
I was taking pictures of his butt.
And we were both sweaty mouth-breathers.
It was awesome.

Except this weird building.
This was kind of freaky.
You can't tell from the picture but it's huge.
And abandoned.
If Tyler were standing next to it from this view, he'd look like a speck on your screen.

It barely sticks out of the ground and has bars on the windows.
We tried to go around but it's surrounded by a huge ditch, kind of like a dry, desert moat.
I Google-Earthed it...nothing, nada, zip- that area of the mountain shows up as a blur.
I'm turning in my Detective badge tomorrow.
Hmmmmmm.

wierd building

We had to use the GPS on my phone to figure out where to go.
Then we forged a new path until we met up with another
and it was back to sweaty smiles.

pollution over valley

The haze? Pollution.

mountain grass

The grass? Oh yeahhhhh, we had some rain.
So pretty.
I may have spent some time running my fingers through it, cooing words of affection.

Tyler doesn't hike- he did this for Valentine's Day. No gear. But you know what, he plays basketball in his jeans too!
